Show - Edinburgh Fringe 2006 - |

I always root for female comics but this woman is not funny. I saw her recently supporting Marcus Brigstocke and ten minutes into her slot was wondering whether she had any material at all. A line of Simon Munnery's sums up her act - "Is any one from anywhere? Has anyone ever noticed anything". Observational comedy is fine as long as the comic has something to say. Carrie Quinlan fell apart when she didn't get the rapturous response she clearly hoped her dreary hackneyed questions would elicit. Waving your arms and saying 'super,' all the time doesn't make you funny. Heckles got the biggest laughs during her set and, no, the crowd wasn't difficult as Marcus Brigstocke went down a storm. Even the 12-year-old in the seat in front of me was texting a mate while she was on saying "this is really bad." Avoid. Felicity Dawson, December 2006 |
