Chortle internships

Now open

Chortle is now inviting applicants for its first internships.

We are seeking passionate comedy-lovers who are keen to gain unique experience in either journalism or arts/event management to join us for stints of between two and six weeks.

These are unpaid positions, although we will provide a small allowance for travel to our offices in South-West London.

If you are seeking journalism experience, you will get the opportunity to write news, reviews and possibly interviews, with guidance that should help hone your skills.

If you are seeking arts management experience, you will liaise with venues and acts, and learn the essentials of what is required to stage a successful comedy night.

And you can also combine experience in both areas, should you wish. The positions will also involve some of the more day-to-day activities Chortle is involved with, such as listings and other editorial administration.

This is the first time we have offered any such positions,  and we would welcome feedback, even at the application stage, as to what applicants would hope to get out of the experience.

We will initially be offering places between now and the end of January. Preference will be given to those who can commit to four weeks or more but shorter commitments may be accommodated.

If interested, please email your CV to corry@chortle.co.uk with your available dates, or use the same address if you want more information.

If you have ambitions to be a journalist, please submit a review of 300 words or more of a recent comedy show you have attended. Or if you are interested in a career in live events, just tell us about the last three comedy events you attended.
