Deadpan genius on This Morning

Here’s the moment Barry Humphries wound up Dermot O’Leary by ‘confusing’ him with Philip Schofield.

Appearing on ITV’s This Morning yesterday, the Dame Edna creator deadpanned: ‘I want to congratulate you seriously on your courage last year when he came out and told us about his sexuality, because I think a lot of people respected you for that.

As told the straight presenter added: ‘Your bravery was amazing’ - co-presenter Alison Hammond was reduced to hysterics.

Some newspapers this morning appeared to make out that the 87-year-old comedy legend was having a senior moment… but it’s clear from the footage that his comedy instincts are still sharp as a tack:
