Cashing in on Corbyn: The Stand's SNP boss
When the Labour leader and his No2 John McDonnell appear at the festival this month, their ‘in conversation’ shows will be staged by Sheppard’s Salt N Sauce productions.
The fact has wound up the Scottish Conservatives, whose deputy leader Jackson Carlaw told The Scottish Sun: ‘It’s no wonder Sheppard has been so sympathetic towards Labour, knowing he was in for a festival windfall from their leader.’
Though the word ‘windfall’ might suggest Carlow has little understanding that the precarious state of Fringe economics means it's hardly a 'magic money tree'.
And Sheppard, whose company owns The Stand comedy clubs in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle, pointed out the In Conversation With… series offers ‘a diverse range of views — no matter how much I might disagree with them.’
Tickets for the shows at the 350-capacity New Town Theatre are £10 each.
