Phoenix Nights stars head back to the club where it was filmed

25th anniversary tour visits Bolton

Some of the cast of Phoenix Nights are returning to the club where the sitcom was filmed for a live show.

Comics who took part in Peter Kay’s comedy will be heading to St Gregory’s Social Club in Farnworth, near Bolton, as part of their national tour of How Far Away Are They? – An Evening With The Cast Of Phoenix Nights.

Taking part are Toby Foster, Steve Edge, Janice Connolly, Archie Kelly and Neil Fitzmaurice – who wrote the show with Kay and Dave Spikey. They played Les, Alan, Holy Mary, Kenny Senior and Ray Von respectively.

St Gregory’s was used as the location for the Phoenix Club in the Channel 4 series, which first aired 25 years ago.

Foster said: ‘Taking the show around the country has been brilliant, but doing it at St Gregory’s is completely different. We’re actually going back to somewhere we filmed the programme.

‘There’ll be loads of memories as soon as we walk through the door, and I’m sure plenty of stories we’d completely forgotten about will come flooding back. It feels like exactly the sort of place this show should be.’

How Far Away Are They? – hosted by broadcaster Chelsey Ward – gives audiences the chance to hear the stories behind the programme directly from the people who were there.

The two St Gregory’s performances will take place at 2pm and 6pm on November 15.
