Entries open for 2026 LGBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year

£1,000 up for grabs

Applications are now open for the 2026 LGBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year.

This year’s competition will culminate in a final at the Comedy Store in November, with a £1,000 prize for the winner. The final will also be professionally filmed for YouTube.

Organiser Chris Smith, of Comedy Bloomers said: ‘Every year we discover incredible performers with unique perspectives and stories, and it is inspiring to watch them develop throughout the competition.

‘Whether you've been performing for a few years or have only recently started your stand-up journey, we would encourage anyone who identifies as LGBTQ+ and has a passion for comedy to apply. This competition could be your opportunity to take the next step in your comedy career.’

Last year’s competition was won by Sydney May, pictured.

The competition is open to any solo LGBTQ+  act who has been performing for less than five years and does not have an agent. Apply here by July 29.
