Bad Hair gets a UK cinema release

Satirical horror film out in November

Satirical horror movie Bad Hair has been given a UK release date.

Set in 1989, the film from writer-director Justin Simien follows an ambitious young woman (Elle Lorraine) who gets a weave in order to succeed in the image-obsessed world of music television.

However, her flourishing career comes at great cost when she realises that her new hair may have a mind of its own.

Simien previously made the acclaimed  Dear White People in 2014, which was subsequently made into a Netflix series.

The cast of Bad Hair also includes Vanessa Williams, Lena Waithe, Laverne Cox, Jay Pharoah, Kelly Rowland, Blair Underwood, James Van Der Beek, Chanté Adams and Usher.

The film will be released in cinemas on November 27, it has been announced today.

Clare Binns, joint managing director of distributors Picturehouse said: ‘We all need a smart, genre-busting horror film and this one gets it spot on. With a super-cool cast and directed by the immensely talented Justin Simien, it felt a perfect fit for Picturehouse Entertainment. This is a film that goes where other films fail to reach.
