When is Harry Hill's new show on TV?

Same date as new Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing and Famalam!

Harry Hill’s new TV series is to launch later this month – as part of a double-bill with the third series of Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing.

Harry Hill's World Of TV is billed as an ‘hilarious lesson in TV history – and what is required to make each of the main TV genres’ kicks off on BBC Two at 8.30pm on Sunday August 23.

Each episode looks at a different genre, starting with soaps, from The Grove Family in 1954 through to Crossroads, and Albion Market, to Coronation Street and EastEnders.

The show is immediately preceded by the latest instalment of   Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse’s angling series.

They start at the River Tweed, with Whitehouse  determined to fulfil his promise to help his old pal get his first salmon – a rite of passage for any angler.

Patrick Holland, controller of BBC Two, said: ‘When Paul and Bob first came to see us three years ago with the idea of making a series about fishing, we couldn’t have imagined their daft idea would become one of the most loved shows on TV. Brimming with friendship, care, beauty, escape and a bit of fishing, it’s a show we are so proud of.’

August 23 is a busy day for BBC comedy, as it’s also the day sketch series Famalam returns to BBC Three for a third series.

Vivienne Acheampong, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Samson Kayo, John MacMillan, Tom Moutchi  and Danielle Vitalis will return in five new episodes, available from 6am.
