Newly restored version to mark its 70th anniversiary

Classic Ealing comedy Kind Hearts & Coronets has been restored for a new cinema release to mark its 70th anniversary.

The film – starring Alec Guinness as nine members of the D’Ascoyne family – was one of a trio of enduring comedies that the London studio released in 1949, along with Passport to Pimlico and Whisky Galore!

The newly restored 4K version will be in cinemas on June 7, with a DVD and Blu-ray release coming on June 24.

The dark satire also stars Dennis Price as the debonair yet impoverished Louis Mazzini, who bumps off the D’Ascoynes who stand int he way of his inheritance, as well as  Joan Greenwood  and Valerie Hobson.
