More awards for Amazon comedy

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has picked up another major award, scooping the Critics’ Choice accolade for best TV comedy series for the second year running.

Star Rachel Brosnahan also won best comedy actress for playing the titular role of a pioneering female stand-up, while co-star Alex Borstein scooped the best supporting actress gong.

Collecting the US award, producer Amy Sherman-Palladino thanked Amazon, which broadcasts the show, adding: ‘The Season 3 budget is going to be coming to you this week. Remember this.’

Olivia Colman was named best actress in a comedy for her role as Queen Anne in the favourite, just days after winning a Golden Globe for the same part.

Crazy Rich Asians was named best comedy film, ahead of fellow nominees Deadpool 2, The Death Of Stalin, The Favourite, Game Night and Sorry To Bother You.

Best actor in a comedy TV series went to Bill Hader for Barry, in which he plays a depressed, low-level hit man who decides he wants to become an actor. His co-star Henry Winkler won the supporting category.
