Comedians up for 2019 Audio Drama awards

Who's on the right wavelength?

Bridget Christie, Rob Newman and Tim Key are all in the running for this year’s BBC Audio Drama Awards.

Despite its name, there are two categories for scripted comedy: long form and sketch show,

In the former category, the nominees are Bridget Christie’s Utopia, Rob Newman’s Total Eclipse of Descartes  and Tim Key’s Late-Night Poetry Programme.

And shortlisted in the sketch how category are Agendum by Jason Hazeley & Joel Morris, Dead Ringers, and John Finnemore’s Souvenir Programme.

All the shows aired on Radio 4.

David Threlfall also got a nomination for best actor for his role as Spike Milligan in Radio 4’s Spike and the Elfin Oak alongside  Liam Brennan for Five Days Which Changed Everything and Jasper Britto for A Month of Maureen – Three Journeys.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in the Radio Theatre at BBC Broadcasting House in London, hosted by Tracy-Ann Oberman, on the evening of Sunday February 3.
