The movie version of Caitlin Moran's book

Production has started on How To Build A Girl, the new comedy movie based on Caitlin Moran’s best-selling, semi-autobiographical novel of the same title.

Beanie Feldstein stars as ‘fat, bright, funny, working-class 16-year-old’ from Wolverhampton reinventing herself as swashbuckling, top-hat-wearing rock critic Dolly Wilde.  Paddy Considine and Sarah Solemani have joined the cast as her  ‘unconventional parents’

The film is being directed by Coky Giedroyc, whose credits include The Virgin Queen, The Nativity and Penny Dreadful, and who is the elder sister of comedian Mel.

It also stars Alfie Allen, Laurie Kynaston, Joanna Scanlan, Arinzé Kene, Frank Dillane, Tadhg Murphy and Ziggy Heath.

Producer Alison Owen said: ‘We are excited that Caitlin’s brilliant literary heroine is finally making it to the big screen, and can’t think of anybody more inspiring than Beanie to bring Caitlin’s exquisitely funny character to life.’
