Jennifer Saunders's West End stage return

Tickets have gone on sale for the live cinema screening of the West End play Lady Windermere’s Fan, starring Jennifer Saunders.

Cameras will be at the Vaudeville Theatre on March 20, beaming the Oscar Wilde comedy to 420 cinemas across the UK and Ireland.

Directed by Kathy Burke, the cast also include Porridge’s Kevin Bishop, Grandma’s House star Samantha Spiro and Joseph Marcell, best known for his role as Geoffrey the butler in Will Smith s The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

The play marks Saunders’ return to the West End stage for the first time in more than 20 years, and is about an aristocratic woman who suspects her husband is having an affair.

Dominic Dromgoole, artistic director of the Classic Spring theatre company, said: ‘Oscar Wilde was a lover of the modern in all its forms, and I’m sure the idea that his plays could now be broadcast live to so many people, in so many places, would have delighted him.’

Other shows in the company’s Oscar Wilde Season will also ben shown in cinemas: An Ideal Husband on Tuesday June 5and The Importance of Being Earnest on Tuesday October 9.
