The unrehearsed Mel Giedroyc

Comics take part in plays, with no preparation

Comedians including Mel Giedroyc, Andi Osho and Mark Thomas are to perform plays which they have never seen before.

They are taking part in the Nassim Plays being staged at London’s Bush Theatre next week – four pieces written by Iranian playwright Nassim Soleimanpour's designed to be read with no rehearsals and no preparation: just a sealed envelope that is unveiled on stage on the night.

Deborah Frances-White, Meera Syal and  Josie Lawrence are also taking part in the season, which follows an award-winning run of Nassim – one of the four plays in the new season – at the Traverse Theatre during the Edinburgh Fringe.

It also follows Manwatching, the play about female sexuality read by male comedians who had never seen the script before, which has run at Edinburgh and London’s Royal Court. Review.

The season kicks off on September 7. Click here for the schedule.
