With comedy shows dominating the full top 30

The enduring popularity of a good comedy show is revealed in a new survey of the top Christmas TV moments.

Nine of the top ten scenes are from comedies, with Only Fools And Horses taking the top two slots.

Del Boy and Rodney stopping a crime while dressed as Batman and Robin was No1, followed by the moment Del finally becomes a millionaire.

Third placed was the Walking In The Air flying segment from The Snowman, followed by Geraldine's sprouts ordeal from The Vicar of Dibley and Andre Previn guesting on The Morecambe & Wise Show.

In total, 22 of the top 30 scenes came from comedy shows, according to the poll of 2,000 viewers by TV makers Samsung.

Spokesperson Zeena Hill said: 'We've been fortunate to experience many amazing Christmas TV moments over the years.

‘And this year is no different with particular stand-outs including The Great Snowman and a Ghosts Christmas special expected to appear on our screens this festive season. We know the viewing experience is just as important as the content itself.'

• An E-Type Jaguar that featured in the first series of Only Fools And Horses fetched £102,375 at auction yesterday. In the second ever episode of the BBC sitcom, Del and Rodney borrowed the Series 3 E-Type Roadster from Boycie  to go to the West End of London, only to crash. It was sold by Hampson Auctions in Flintshire.
