Rosie Ramsey joins Strictly's Christmas special

Three years after husband Chris made the semis

Rosie Ramsey is following her comedian husband Chris on to the Strictly dancefloor.

The presenter – who hosts the top-rated Sh**ged. Married. Annoyed podcast with Chris – has been named as one of the first celebrities to be taking part in the one-off Christmas special.

She said: ‘I am thrilled to be dancing in this year’s Strictly Christmas special! After watching my husband Chris compete a few years ago, I’ve been desperate to get on that dance floor myself.

‘I also absolutely love Christmas, and my partner Neil is lovely, so this is just perfect. Best. Christmas. Ever.

Chris made the semi-finals of Strictly in 2019 with his pro partner Karen Hauer, saying at the time: ‘We did what people thought impossible. An absolute novice who took six months to learn his wedding day dance to a man who danced 13 dances in front of millions and created an atmosphere and character through it all.’

Rosie will be paired with pro Neil Jones on the special, which will air on Christmas Day, it was announced on T BBC One’s Morning Live today.

Also announced as taking part is Radio 1 DJ Rickie Haywood-Williams, who will be dancing with Luba Mushtuk. He said: ‘I have watched Strictly over the years and always said I’d be too scared  to do it. But here I am ready to go for it, sequins n’ all.’

Each celebrity will perform a Christmas-inspired routine to try to impress  judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas, as well as the he voting audience.

The Ramseys will also be returning to BBC Two next year for a second series of  The Chris & Rosie Ramsey Show
