Amazon snaps up Alan Partridge’s Stratagem

Live show will be streamed on Prime Video this winter

Alan Partridge’s live show Stratagem is coming to Amazon’s Prime Video service.

Steve Coogan’s show – loosely a spoof motivational speech – was filmed at The O2 in London last month and is expected to land on the streaming service this winter.

Chris Bird, Prime Video’s UK managing director told Deadline: ‘Looking at the biggest and best UK shows for this year, Alan Partridge really stood out.

‘Personally, for me, he's a national institution - a fantastically popular and engaging character. Steve and his team have created a gargantuan success with him, so we were thrilled to be able to pick up the rights and launch him later this year on Prime Video.’

He added that Coogan will shoot a special introduction and ‘back-end piece’ for the show.

Initially, it will stream in the UK and Ireland only, but Bird said he hoped it would also be available elsewhere eventually.

Last month it was revealed that Coogan would be making a second series of the Alan Partridge podcast From The Oasthouse, with another 11 episodes available on Audible from September.
