What comedians are taking part in BBC Christmas specials?

Married comedians Sarah Millican and Gary Delaney are to take on The Wall in a special Christmas episode of BBC One quiz show The Wall.

Two special episodes of the Danny Dyer-fronted show will air this festive season, with the other featuring EastEnders stars Maddy Hill.

Millican and Delaney previously appeared together in Celebrity Pointless in 2019, pictured.

In other Christmas specials on BBC One and BBC Two featuring comedians:

  • Alex Brooker and Ellie Taylor will take part in a charity version of music quiz The Hit List
  • An as-yet unnamed cast will perform a new version of Beauty & The Beast as this year’ Comic Relief pantomime
  • Not Going Out, Three Doors Down and Mrs Brown’s Boys return for Christmas episodes, with Jason Donovan guest starring alongside Lee Mack in Not Going Out
  • A festive edition of Would I Lie To You will feature Rose Matafeo,  Ardal O’Hanlon, Jim Broadbent and  Angela Rippon
  • Paul Whitehouse’s and Bob Mortimer try to catch an elusive English Salmon in  rivers Eden and Tyne around Newcastle in a special episode of Gone Fishing.
  • Joe Lycett, Sally Phillips and  Bonnie Langford join Sandi Toksvig and Alan Davies for a festive QI
  • Scarlett Moffatt and Josh Widdicombe take part in a Christmas edition of The Ragnatation, with Romesh Ranganathan
  • Jason Manford hosts Live At The Apollo with Maisie Adam and Nabil Abdulrashid
  • Frankie Boyle hosts an end-of-year version of his New World Order
  • Judi Love, Les Dennis and Su Pollard take part in Celebrity MasterChef alongside singer Mica Paris, broadcaster the Reverend Richard Coles, Strictly professional Oti Mabuse, reality star Joey Essex and former professional football player Neil Ruddock
  • Jason Manford and Julian Clary are among the celebrities on Michael McIntyre’s Christmas Wheel
  • A Christmas version of The Weakest Link, now fronted by Romesh Ranganathan, will feature panto stars

As Chortle reported at the weekend, BBC Two will also air a lost 1970 episode of The Morecambe and Wise Show.

And for CBBC, Horrible Histories airs a Cracking Christmas episode featuring the 18th century man whose job was to walk a thousand turkeys from Norfolk to London, Joulopukki, the Finnish Festive Goat, and Charles Dickens singing a festive hit, Slade-style.
