...as he extends his stand-up tour

Geoff Norcott is to make his debut on Have I Got News For You next week.

The Late Night Mash and Radio 4 regular, who is often billed as one of the few right-leaning comedians on the UK circuit, will appear opposite BBC news broadcaster Mishal Husain, who is also making her first appearance on the programme.

Norcott has also just extended his national tour, I Blame the Parents, which no goes from February 2 to May 29 next year. (Geoff Norcott tour dates)

His Have I Got News For You show on October 15 will be hosted by Alexander Armstrong, who with 36 previous episodes under his watch is the most regular guest chairman.

Another frequent presenter, Victoria Coren Mitchell, will oversee the following week’s episode, which will mark the debut of TV and radio presenter Rylan Clark-Neal.

The news comes after Chortle revealed yesterday that Ria Lina – a comic with a PhD in virology – would be making her first appearance on the topical show this Friday.

She appears  on Ian Hislop’s team, opposite Ross Noble and Paul Merton, while Stephen Mangan will be returning to host for a 12th time.

The 62nd series of Have I Got News For You continues on BBC One at 9pm on Fridays.
