Mae Martin starts work on The Flight Attendant

Comedian joins Kaley Cuoco's dark comedy thriller

Mae Martin has started filming The Flight Attendant in Los Angeles.

Series star Kaley Cuoco – formerly of Big Bang Theory – shared two pictures of herself with the Canadian-born, UK-based stand-up on Instagram.

They were among a series of photographs captioned: ‘LA week 1 photo dump @flightattendantonmax what a cast, what a crew! season 2!’

The first series aired on HBO Max in the US in November, and was subsequently snapped up for Sky One and Now TV in the UK.

Based on the novel of the same name by author Chris Bohjalian, the first eight episodes revolved around Cuoco’s titular character waking up in a Bangkok hotel with a dead man at her side – and no idea what happened.

In the second series of the dark comedy thriller, Cuoco’s character Cassie Bowden has sobered up, living in LA and moonlighting as a CIA asset. But when an overseas assignment leads her to inadvertently witness a murder, she becomes entangled in another international intrigue.

Martin’s character is called Grace St. James, although nothing else has been revealed about her. But in one of the pictures shared by Cuoco she is wearing a waistcoat in the colours of Imperial Airlines, suggesting she is one of Cassie’s  colleagues.

Other cast joining for season two include Cheryl Hines from Curb Your Enthusiasm and comedian Margaret Cho.
