Sky buys Ted Danson’s new comedy Mr. Mayor

Ted Danson’s new comedy Mr. Mayor is coming to the UK.

Sky Comedy has bought the UK rights to the series, which about a retired businessman Neil Bremer, who runs for mayor of Los Angeles ‘for all the wrong reasons’  – but once he gets the job he has to figure out what he stands for.

The show was created by 30 Rock’s Tina Fey and Robert Carlock and originally aired on NBC in the States, where has just been renewed for a second series.

It also stars Holly Hunter as the deputy mayor and his biggest critic, former Saturday Night Live cast member Bobby Moynihan as the communications director, and  Kyla Kenedy as Orly, Bremer's daughter who enjoys embarrassing him.

Guest stars have included Andie MacDowell, David Spade, Chrissy Teigen, Kurt Braunohler and Beau Bridges,

The first series of nine episodes launches on Sky Comedy next month.

As Chortle previously reported, Sky Comedy also just acquired Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s autobiographical sitcom Young Rock, which also first aired on NBC.
