Revealed: The celebrities learning comedy for Stand Up and Deliver

'A Reverend, an actress, a politician, a reality star, and a musical legend'

Channel 4 has revealed the names of the celebrities dabbling in comedy for Stand Up and Deliver.

Each of the stars will be coached by a professional comic in the two-part series, before performing in front of an audience of family and friends.

David Baddiel will coach broadcaster Reverend Richard Coles; Jason Manford teach Happy Mondays frontman  Shaun Ryder, Nick Helm will guide former Conservative Party co-Chairwoman Baroness Warsi, Judi Love will be in charge of Love Island’s   Curtis Pritchard and Zoe Lyons will former Coronation Street actress   champion Katie McGlynn.

Channel 4 commissioning editor Becky Cadman, said: ‘This joyous series is both a masterclass in comedy, and a dramatic test of character. A Reverend, an actress, a politician, a reality star, and a musical legend already sounds like the start of a joke and watching them learn the craft of stand-up from five of the best in the business is brilliantly entertaining.’

Comedians previously criticised the broadcaster for giving stand-up airtime to famous people at a time when many professional comics are struggling to earn a living.

The two-part series will air next year as part of Channel 4’s   Stand Up To Cancer programming.
