The week's best live comedy

The best of the week’s live comedy. These are socially-distanced gigs, indoors and outdoors. Check with venues about party size restrictions. Most shows require advance booking.

Sunday September 27

WARWICK: The Picnic At The Castle gigs continue with an unrivalled setting, great food and brilliant comedy - tonight courtesy of Catherine Bohart, Sara Barron, Sarah Keyworth, Sindhu Vee and  Pierre Novellie. Further shows are on Thursday and next Sunday. Details and tickets.

BRIGHTON: Jimmy Carr’s the hardest-gigging star in comedy, and he’s not going to let a little thing like a global pandemic stop that. He’s at the Warren Outdoor Theatre tonight; then at London’s Clapham Grand on Monday and Tuesday, doing two socially-distanced shows a night, and next Saturday another double at The Assembly in Leamington Spa.

Tuesday September 29

BRISTOL: Two podcast kings play the courtyard of Bristol’s Lakota nightclub: Comedian’s Comedian host Stuart Goldsmith and half of Off Menu, Ed Gamble.

Thursday October 1

LONDON: The Backyard in Bethnal Green becomes the latest comedy club to resume its programming with reduced capacity, starting with its regular Thursday new act and new material night, then weekend gigs tomorrow and Saturday with Paul Pirie, Eshaan Akbar and others…

GRANTHAM: There’s great observational comedy from both Hal Cruttenden and Scott Bennett at the town’s cricket club tonight, courtesy of Funhouse Comedy Club.

Friday October 2

CHORLTON: Paul Sinha’s Hazy Little Thing Called Love, about drunken nights and finding emotional happiness, comes to the Irish Club Tickets.

LONDON: The outdoor gigs in Battersea Arts Centre’s courtyard continue even as the nights get colder, so wrap up warm! It’s worth it for a sterling bill tonight of Catherine Bohart, Darren Harriott, Rachel Fairburn, Suzi Ruffell and Sarah Keyworth.
