Playing a museum boss in Da Vinci Code prequel Langdon

Eddie Izzard has been cast in a major American TV drama based on a Dan Brown novel.

Langdon is based on the Da Vinci Code prequel The Lost Symbol and stars Succession regular Ashley Zukerman as  Harvard University symbologist Robert Langdon.

In the show, which NBC is making as a pilot, a young Langdon must solve a series of puzzles to save his kidnapped mentor and thwart a global conspiracy.

Izzard will play Peter Solomon, the director of the Smithsonian museum and an influential mover and shaker in Washington.

Valorie Curry, who starred opposite  Peter Serafinowicz in Amazon Prime superhero comedy The Tick,  has also been cast as Katherine, a scientist who studies how consciousness can affect the physical world.

Izzard had started filming earlier in the year, Hollywood website Deadline reports, before production was suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The comedian is this week giving solo performances of Charles Dickens’ classic Great Expectations in a series of work-in-progress online shows this week. Tickets, priced £15, are available here. All Izzard’s profits will go to the Make Humanity Great Again’ project.
