Big Night In gets 181 complaints for 'offensive humour'

Was it Little Britain?

The BBC received more than 180 complaints that its Big Night In fundraiser included ‘offensive content or humour’.

A fortnightly summary of complaints published by the Corporation reveals the figure, but does not detail what the 181 viewers took issue with.

However, the Independent’s reviewer found the return of David Walliams and Matt Lucas’s Little Britain characters ‘horrifying’ for their portrayal of wheelchair user Andy wanting ‘bat’ and their WI members who vomit profusely at the notion of anything foreign.

Last Friday’s three-hour show – a collaboration between Comic Relief and Children In Need – also included  sketches from Catherine Tate's Lauren, the Vicar Of Dibley, Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon, and Peter Kay introducing a new version of the Amarillo video.
