Fangs again! Broadcaster buys series two of vampire comedy

BBC Two has snapped up the rights to the second series of vampire houseshare sitcom What We Do In The Shadows.

The series will air as part of a new Thursday night comedy block on the channel which starts next month with the debut of football comedy The First Team  from The Inbetweeners creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, alongside a new run of QI.

What We Do In The Shadows returned to America’s FX channel last week, attracting just over 500,000 viewers.

Starring Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou and Kayvan Novak, Harvey Guillén, and Mark Proksch, the critically-acclaimed comedy is a spin-off from  Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi's 2014 film of the same name.

BBC Two’s new Thursday night comedy block will also feature the second series of There She Goes, starring David Tennant and Jessica Hynes as the parents of a girl with a learning disability, based on the real-life experiences of writer Shaun Pye.

It was today also announced that Berry would be making a new series of four mockumentaries for BBC Two, while Demetriou was joining Vic Reeves as host of the new Netflix competition series The Big Flower Fight.
