Russell Howard to host a new lockdown show for Sky

Twice weekly from his bedroom

Russell Howard is to host a new twice-weekly Sky One show from his old childhood bedroom.

Over the course of Russell Howard’s Home Time, the comic will offer his take on topical events, chat to famous faces and interesting people, and highlight upbeat news stories in the series.

And he will be donating his fee for the series to NHS Charities Together and food bank operators The Trussell Trust.

Howard said:  said: ‘Like you I’m stuck at home going slowly mad. So, I’m doing a new show where I’ll be trying to spread some joy in these strange times, chatting to some famous faces and unsung heroes. But crucially not touching ANY of them.’

Philip Edgar-Jones, head of entertainment at Sky, added: ‘We’re living in the strangest and anxious of moments, in a world where we communicate with our friends and families solely via online platforms; where crossing the road to avoid people is considered polite and where we’d gladly grass up our neighbours for sitting on a park bench. So, who better to unpick the oddness with his unique take on the world than Russell Howard?’

The show – made by the production arm of Howard’s agents, Avalon – will air on Sky One at 10pm and Tuesdays and 10.30pm Thursdays, starting this Thursday.

The comic’s regular show, The Russell Howard Hour, is set to return to Sky One later this year.

Last week, Susan Calman started a similar show from her garden for BBC Scotland, entitled Socially Distant, while this morning the BBC announced a massive three-hour telethon offering performances from stars’ homes.
