Peter Kay announces new dates

...of his Dance For Life charity party nights

Peter Kay is to return to the stage three years after cancelling his tour over his ‘unforeseen family circumstances’.

The comedian will be returning as a DJ for six dates of his fundraising Dance For Life events.

The danceathon has previously played 14 UK arena dates since 2016 and sold more than 75,000 tickets, raising money for Cancer Research UK’s life-saving research.

There will be two dates each at London’s Alexandra Palace, Liverpool’s Exhibition Centre and Manchester Central, where he will be at Good Friday and Easter Saturday.

Each of the venues will be transformed into a massive nightclub for the three-hour dance-a-thons.

Kay said: ‘I’ve honestly never had so much fun as I had working on Dance For Life. The atmosphere was so happy and positive; it really is a great way to raise money for the worthiest of causes. All people have to do is turn up and dance.’

Caro Evans, director of partnerships at Cancer Research UK, added: ‘We are so grateful to Peter for hosting his epic Dance For Life events to help us fund vital research to beat cancer.  We need as many people as possible to join Peter and make a difference by dancing the night away.’

Tickets are £28.50 each and fancy dress is encouraged. Information on setting up sponsorship is available here.

In 2017, Kay announced a major year-long stand-up tour which would have been his first for eight years. But a month later he cancelled all his work projects because of his family issues.

Here are the dates for Dance For Life:

Friday April 10: Manchester Central
Saturday April 11: Manchester Central
Friday May 8: Liverpool Exhibition Centre
Saturday May 9: Liverpool Exhibition Centre
Friday May 29: London Alexandra Palace
Saturday May 30: London Alexandra Palace
