Chris Ramsey survives Strictly's dance-off

Chris Ramsey has survived another week on Strictly Come Dancing, after surviving the dreaded dance-off tonight

Shirley Ballas made the decision to send home former footballer Alex Scott and her pro partner Neil Jones instead of the comedian and his partner Karen Hauer.

In the musicals week quarter-final dance last night, Ramsey scored just 29 points for his Oliver!-themed foxtrot - one more than Scott, putting both well adrift from the other three couples  still in the competition all of whom scored 39 or 40 points.

The public voted for them to go head-to-head tonight; and  Ballas and Bruno Tonioli opted to save Chris and Karen while Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse chose Alex and Neil.

But as head judges Ballas has the deciding vote. She said: 'Both couples danced extremely well and, for me, it's going to go personal taste, and I'm going to go with the couple that I felt had the most content and more powerfully entertaining, and therefore I am saving Chris and Karen.'

Tolioni said the 'stronger overall, more convincing, powerful entertaining couple is Chris and Karen', who had danced to Consider Yourself.

In last night's show, Ballas had told Ramsey: 'You gave 100 per cent in the theatrical bits but it needed more swing and stride".

But Craig Revel Horwood said that in his original dance Ramey 'lacked movement around the floor, placed rather than danced, but the polka was galloping and rip-roaring"'.

Motsi concluded that the routine was 'packed with personality but the foxtrot element was too small'.
