Comedian John lands a Radio 4 slot on December 25

John Kearns is to host a Christmas Day special on Radio 4.

The comic will share genuine audio recordings of his family’s Christmas dinners in the half-hour show.

Listeners will hear his relatives pick over the bones of Midnight Mass, dissect jokes, mourn the quality of fish and chips and mourn discontinued bus routes.

The tapes will be interspersed with  stand-up from the double Edinburgh Comedy Award-winner, pondering the likes of Gary Lineker signing a Christmas card to his wife, and marvelling at George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley writing Last Christmas in front of Match Of The Day.

It will air at 5pm on Christmas Day on Radio 4.

The news comes as Kearns begins a two-week run at Soho Theatre tonight.
