Eddie Murphy to make a fourth Beverly Hills Cop movie

This time for Netflix

Eddie Murphy is to return to the role of Axel Foley in a fourth  Beverly Hills Cop morice.

Netflix has bought the rights to make a sequel in the franchise from the Paramount studio, Hollywood website Deadline reports.

The deal also reportedly includes an option for Netflix to create a fifth movie.

Produced by veteran action movie kingpin Jerry Bruckheimer, Beverly Hills Cop IV had long been stuck in development at Paramount, before the new contract was struck.

Netflix is currently enjoying a hit with Dolemite Is My Name, in which Murphy plays blaxploitation star Rudy Ray Moore, and the comic has also been in talks about a return to stand-up, with a Netflix special at the end of it.

Murphy is also reviving another of his hit 1980s characters, Prince Akeem, in a new Coming To America movie.

The original Beverly Hills Cop was the biggest movie of 1984, netting $234 million at the North American box office alone. Sequels followed in 1987 and 1994.
