THE INFINITE MONKEY CAGE: Professor Brian Cox and Robin Ince return for a new series of the pop-science show - starting with an episode about dinosaurs. Radio 4, 4.30pm.

SIMON EVANS IS RIGHT: The News Quiz regular has recently found himself labelled a right-wing comedian… so in this one-off he sets out to find out whether or not that’s true. Radio 4, 8pm

DEFENDING THE GUILTY: After last year’s pilot, the legal comedy returns for a full six-part series. Will Sharpe from Channel 4’s Flowers, plays Will Packham - an idealistic pupil barrister being shown the ropes by his cynical, worldly-wise mentor Caroline, played by Katherine Parkinson. In the opening episode, they are defending an old lag of murder, with overwhelming evidence against him. BBC Two, 10pm

COMEDIANS GIVING LECTURES: Like TED Talks but with more LOLs, comics are given the titles of real lectures and invited to give their own interpretation, with their efforts judged by an expert in the field. It’s hosted by Sara Pascoe - who speaks a little about the show here. In episode one, Nish Kumar, talks about 10 Ways the World Could End; Natasia Demetriou fills us in on the Anatomy Of The Vagina, and Tom Allen explains Why We Make Bad Decisions. Dave, 10pm.
