First guest comedians announced

The first guest comedians have been confirmed for Harry Hill’s return to Channel 4.

Earlier this year, the broadcaster announced the comic was to front a new 11pm programme showcasing handpicked fellow stand-ups.

The programme has now been given the name Harry Hill’s ClubNite and will be recorded from next month.

Confirmed acts include Bridget Christie, Mawaan Rizwan, Rachel Parris, Rosie Jones, Suzi Ruffell, Huge Davies, Lucy Pearman, Eddie Kadi and Tim Renkow.

As well as guest comics, the series promises returning characters, sketches, games and music.

When the commission of six hour-long episodes was announced in January, Channel 4’s head of entertainment Ed Havard, said: ‘I’m thrilled that a huge star like Harry is excited by the opportunities in our new 11pm slot.  

‘We’ve wanted to work with him for a very long time - he has always been a champion of new comedy talent and with Harry at the helm, the series is a fantastic chance to introduce a raft of the best new faces to Channel 4’s audience.’

Hill became a star after his eponymous series aired on Channel 4 aired from 1997 to 2000, leading to TV Burp on ITV the next year. He had previously made a Radio 4 show and Fruit Fancies for BBC Two, after winning the 1992 Perrier best newcomer award.

The first ClubNite show will be taped at Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire on October 4, with free tickets available here.

Hill will also be at the Moth Club in Hackney, East London, on Monday and Thursday next week introducing other acts he’s personally selected under the ClubNite banner.

Also taking part in these gigs are  Helen BauerHolly BurnJessica FostekewPaul F Taylor , Roisin & Chiara, Thanyia Moore, Judi Love, Tarot, Colin HoultDaniel CookElf LyonsEmma Sidi, Michael Odewale, Phil Dunning, The Delightful Sausage, Luke Rollason, Rose Johnson and Mo Omar – although none of these have been confirmed for the TV series.
