Mum set for an American remake

US uber-producer snaps up the rights

One of America’s top producers is working on a US remake of the BBC Two comedy Mum.

Scott Rudin reportedly won the rights to the gentle but well-observed  series, starring Lesley Manville as a widow turning 60, following a bidding war.

Rudin has an impressive track record in film, TV and on stage. Credits include  No Country for Old Men, The Social Network, School Of Rock,  Zoolander, The Truman Show, The Book of Mormon and  The Newsroom.

He will be an executive producer on the new show original creator and writer Stefan Golaszewski and Kenton Allen of UK production company Big Talk, Deadline reports.

 The BBC series, which airs on BritBox in the US, also stars Peter Mullan, Sam Swainsbury and Lisa McGrillis

August: Osage County and Killer Joe writer Tracy Letts is said to be writing the remake.
