Comedians take part in televised charity netball clash

Jennifer Saunders is to lead a team of fellow celebrities in a netball contest for Sport Relief.

Her squad will take on a rival outfit led by ballroom Oti Mabuse - who is 32 years younger than the 60-year-old Ab Fab star and has a job that requires fitness.

Saunders will be at a further disadvantage as Mabuse grew up playing netball in South Africa.

Other comedy names taking part in the contest include, Sally Phillips, stand-ups Luisa Omielan and  Ellie Taylor and Miranda’s Sarah Hadland.

They will face off  at M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool in a clash to be aired on BBC Two on Saturday July 20, the day before the Netball World Cup takes place on the same pitch. Clare Balding will present the action.

Also taking part are radio presenter Vick Hope and Adele Roberts, former footballer Sue Smith, rower Dame Katherine Grainger, Blue Peter presenter Lindsey Russell, taekwondo gold medallist Jade Jones and former sprinter.  Katherine Merry.
