Joe Pasquale to take Frank Spencer on tour again

Joe Pasquale is taking 1970s sitcom Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em back on the road next year.

The comic will revive the role of Frank Spencer for the 11-venue tour, kicking off with a week at Bromley’s Churchill Theatre from February 26.

Pasquale first played the character on a stage tour last year,  45 years after  Michael Crawford first donned Spencer’s mac and beret for the BBC One sitcom, which ran for three series.

For the new tour, Sarah Earnshaw is also returning as his long-suffering wife Betty and Victoria Wood collaborator Susie Blake as his disapproving mother-in-law, Mrs Fisher

Pasquale said: ‘After 30 years in showbusiness, this has been the role of a lifetime for me, so to be bringing it back again, this time to a wider audience, is a dream come true.’

Guy Unsworth, who wrote and directs the stage adaptation, said: ‘We never imagined how much love there would be for this new story of Frank and Betty, both from critics and audiences alike. I’m so pleased that these incredible cast members are returning.’

The 2020 tour will also visit Poole, Nottingham, Cheltenham, Blackpool, Newcastle, Birmingham, St Helens, Canterbury, Guildford and. Southend See the official website for the schedule.
