Honours for comedy writers

David Baddiel, Armando Iannucci and Stephen Fry have been made fellows of the Royal Society of Literature.

To achieve the honour, a writer must have published at least two works of outstanding literary merit.

A total of 45 new Fellows and Honorary Fellows have just been elected, bringing the total up to around 600. Others honoured with full fellowships include Monica Ali, Jez Butterworth, Jonathan Meades and Susie Orbach,

Based at Somerset House In London, the society was founded in 1820, by King George IV, to ‘reward literary merit and excite literary talent’.
