New stand-up show for digital radio

Oxford's Jericho Comedy Club to air on UnionJack

Digital radio station Union Jack is to air a weekly stand-up show.

The broadcaster will air the full-line up from the weekly Jericho Comedy Club in Oxford, where the channel is based, each Thursday at 7pm, starting on May 9.

The club was named the best in the Midlands at the 2019 Chortle Awrds last month.

Union Jack has also recommissioned Josh Berry’s Fake News for a second series. The show, written and voiced by the impressionist (pictured), airs every Friday at 7pm starting today. Series one is available as a podcast from the usual platforms.

The station is also going to rename Monday ‘pundays’ from May 6 as it invites listeners to send in their wordplay based around specific topics to a show hosted by comic Colin Leggo.

Union Jack programme manager, Giles Gear, said: ‘Pundays and One Night Stand showcase two huge areas of British comedy – puns and stand-up comedy.

‘Recommissioning Josh Berry’s Fake News was also a no-brainer, as this young impressionist is destined for great things. A recent impression of his was watched by more than 1 million people on Twitter, and at Union Jack we recognise and support his ambition.’

Union Jack is available on digital radio,  online and via the Union Jack  app.
