The Goodies reunite – and they're making a new show

Audio adventure coming soon

The Goodies are reuniting to record a new scripted show.

Tim Brooke-Taylor, Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie will be joined by Joanna Lumley in the new audio adventure.

Written by Gareth Gwynne and John-Luke Roberts, the not-so-far-fetched plot has Parliament falling apart and sinister dictators threatening the world, with only The Goodies able to save the day.

The episode – which also features songs by Oddie –  will be recorded in front of a live studio audience later this month and released on Audible later in the year.

Jon Culshaw, Philip Pope, Kate Harbour and Barnaby Eaton-Jones also have roles.

The show is being produced by Barnaby Eaton-Jones, who has helped revive classic scripts of I’m Sorry, I’ll Read That Again – the cult 1960s and 1970s that also starred the Goodies alongside  John Cleese, David Hatch and Jo Kendall.

And the director will be Dirk Maggs, best known for making the new episodes of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio show since Douglas Adams’s death.

Goodies

Last year The Goodies reunited for the first time in more than a decade to record extras for a DVD box set of their TV work. The trio also appeared together on stage at Bristol’s Slapstick Festival in January, where they were interviewed by Richard Herring (top picture).

Before that, they hadn’t worked together since a 2005 BBC Two retrospective, which followed a live stage show.

The recording of The Goodies Live In Your Ears takes place at RADA Theatre Studio on March 17 and tickets, priced £7.50, are available here.
