Fleabag AND Derry Girls are back!

The best of the week's comedy on TV and radio

The week’s best comedy on TV and radio.

Monday March 4

FLEABAG: Oh yes! Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s grimly funny show is back for a very welcome second run. And all starts with perfect discomfort at a family dinner to celebrate the engagement between the title character’s evil Godmother (newly Oscared Olivia Colman) and Dad (Bill Paterson) where tensions rise again. BBC One, 10.35pm

JERK: Fleabag is followed by the first episode of Tim Renkow’s BBC Three sitcom, already available on iPlayer, which should again appeal to lovers of uncomfortable comedy and difficult characters, as his selfish alter-ego causes disruption all round, knowing his disability means no one will call him out on it.BBC One, 11pm

Tuesday March 5

DERRY GIRLS: The girls are back! And in the first show of the second series, Erin (Saoirse-Monica Jackson) and the rest of the gang are excited to attend an outdoor pursuits weekend which aims to bring Protestant and Catholic schoolkids together as part of a peace initiative. But peace is the last thing on Michelle's (Jamie-Lee O'Donnell) mind once she finds out that there will be Protestant lads there… Click here for an interview with Derry Girls creator Lisa McKee. Channel 4, 9.15pm

DATE NIGHT: A new semi-improvised comedy show from Marc Wootton and also featuring Catherine Tate, Monica Dolan, Katherine Parkinson, Hammed Animashaun, Ellie White and Jamie Demetriou. Together they portray a series of couple trying to keep their relationship alive with a weekly date night. Radio 4, 11pm

Wednesday March 6

WHITE GOLD: The comedy about ruthless 1980s double-glazing salesmen returns, and will be something of a litmus test for star Ed Westwick’s popularity after the high-profile accusations against him, which never went to trial for lack of evidence. He returns as Vincent Swan, now working for violent gangster Ronnie (Lee Ross) alongside disillusioned Lavender (Joe Thomas) and heartbroken Fitzpatrick (James Buckley). And while they grapple with personal problems their business - and their male pride - comes under theatre from a rival saleswoman. BBC Two, 10pm

HYPOTHETICAL: Josh Widdicombe and James Acaster this week put preposterous dilemmas to Nish Kumar, Dara O Briain, Kiri Pritchard-McLean and Suzi Ruffell. Dave, 10pm

SCHOOLED: Another retro comedy as the 1990s-set spin-off from US sitcom The Goldbergs comes to E4. E4, 8.30pm

Thursday March 7

WHERE’S THE F IN NEWS: The all-female topical panel show returns, hosted by Jo Bunting with guests this episode Jayde Adams and Zoe Lyons. Radio 4, 11pm
