Broadcaster snaps up spin-off from The Goldbergs

E4 has snapped up the rights to The Goldbergs spin-off series Schooled.

The deal also means the broadcaster will get the rights to any future seasons of the original show, as well as enabling it to host all past episodes on its on-demand service All4.

Season 6, which is just coming to an end on the ABC network in the US, is currently being show on E4.

Schooled will start on E4 on March 6, the same date that all the previous episodes of The Goldbergs will be added to All4.

The Goldbergs is a family sitcom set in the 1980s starring Curb Your Enthusiasm’s Jeff Garlin as Murray and Wendi McLendon-Covey as his wife Beverly. Comic Patton Oswald narrates the series as the narrator, the adult version of one of the children, Ana,

 Schooled moves the action to the 1990s, and launched last week with 4.82million viewers on TV, upped to 6.4million when catch-up views were counted.

No future seasons of The Goldbergs have yet been announced.
