Inside No 9's series five guest stars revealed

...and here's the first picture

The guest stars and the first image have been revealed for the new series of Inside No 9.

The photograph shows that one episode is set inside a football changing room, with The Missing star David Morrissey as a referee and The Royle Family’s Ralf Little and series co-creator Steve Pemberton as linesmen, with Reece Shearsmith in another role, possibly as the fourth official.

Other stars in the fifth series – which is currently being shot – include Maxine Peake, Jenna Coleman, Dipo Ola, Phil Davis, Jill Halfpenny, Steve Speirs, Tom Goodman-Hill, Fionn Whitehead, Kadiff Kirwan,  Debbie Rush and Ioanna Kimbook.

Shearsmith and Pemberton have written six new standalone stories for the new BBC Two series, which follows last year’s acclaimed live Halloween special Dead Line

BBC comedy chief Shane Allen said: ‘Reece and Steve consistently dazzle  and delight with what is undoubtedly the most inventively prolific storytelling series on television. Their ability to subvert and surprise makes each show a unique experience for the viewers. It’s the antidote to a world of familiar cosy TV formats.’

Pemberton will be directing one of the episodes, with regular Inside No 9 helmer Guillem Morales overseeing three more, and Psychoville’s Matt Lipsey directing two more.
