First look at Steve Coogan in Greed

As Stephen Fry, Sarah Solemani and more join the cast

Here is the first picture of Steve Coogan in Greed, the new comedy film said to be loosely based on Top Shop tycoon Sir Philip Green.

Filming has just wrapped on the movie, which also co-stars David Mitchell and Isla Fisher.

Set in the glamorous and celebrity-filled world of luxury fashion, the plot revolves around the build-up to a spectacular 60th birthday party in an exclusive hotel on the Greek island of Mykonos.

Coogan plays the retail billionaire at the centre of the story, while Fisher is his wife and Mitchell is a mild-mannered journalist hired by Coogan’s character to chronicle his life story.

The full cast has also been announced today, including Stephen Fry, Him And Her star Sarah Solemani, People Just Do Nothing’s Asim Chaudhry and Loaded star Jonny Sweet.

Doctor Who’s Pearl Mackie, Made In Chelsea’s Ollie Locke, Sophie Cookson from Kingsman, Shirley Henderson from Trainspotting, Hugo star Asa Butterfield,  model Shanina Shaik and stage actor Dinita Gohil round out the ensemble.

The satire – to be released late next year –  is directed by Michael Winterbottom – who has previously worked with Coogan on The Trip series, 24 Hour Party People and A Cock And Bull Story. He co-wrote the script with  Sean Gray, whose credits include Veep and The Thick of It.

Ollie Madden from Film4, which is backing the movie, said: ‘We can’t think of anyone better to take on the excessive world of business moguls and the super-rich than Michael Winterbottom and Steve Coogan

‘Together with Sean Gray, a great production team and brilliant ensemble cast, we know they’re going to make something both funny and with a genuine sting in the tail.’
