As the Broadcast Award nominees are announced

Squaring up at last, Taskmaster is to take on Strictly Come Dancing the Broadcast Awards.

Alex Horne and Greg Davies’ challenge show has been nominated for best entertainment programme in the prestigious TV industry accolades.

And also in the running are Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, Celebrity Hunted, Love Island , and The Big Narstie Show.

Last year Taskmaster beat Strictly in the same category, as well as fellow niminees I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, Love Island, The Voice UK, and All Round To Mrs. Brown’s.

Meanwhile, the best comedy nominees are  Derry Girls, Detectorists, Mum, Stath Lets Flats. This Country and  The Windsors Royal Wedding Special.

Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing is up for best original programme alongside an eclectic mix: Married to A Paedophile, Men Who Sleep in Cars, Peng Life, The Big Narstie Show and  The Mighty Redcar.

The Misadventures of Romesh Ranganathan has been shortlisted for best popular factual programme alongside Celebrity Hunted, Gogglebox, The £1 Houses: Britain’s Cheapest Street, The Real Full Monty: Ladies Night and  The Repair Shop.

Eric, Ernie and Me, about Morecambe and Wise’s scriptwriter Eddie Braben, is nominated for best single drama alongside the Black Mirror episode USS Callister, Killed By My Debt, The Boy with The Topknot, The Child in Time and  The Miniaturist.

And Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney’s Channel 4 sitcom Catastrophe is in the running for international programme sales.

Harry Hill will host the ceremony which take place at London’s Grosvenor Hotel on February 6.

Meanwhile, a number of Radio 4 comedies have been shortlisted for the BBC Audio Drama Awards.

Up for best longform scripted comedy are Ability from Lost Voice Guy Lee Ridley, Bridget Christie's Utopia, Mae Martin's Guide To 21st Century Addiction, Plum House, Rob Newman's Total Eclipse Of Descartes and Tim Key's Late Night Poetry Programme. K

And in the running foe the best sketch show are Agendum, Dead Ringers, John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme, Lucy Porter In The Family Way, Newsjack. Sketchtopia and  Thanks A Lot, Milton Jones!

The finalists will be announced on January 8 and the winners on February 3.
