Radio shows for Russell Kane, Diane Morgan and Matt Lucas
Russell Kane, Diane Morgan and Matt Lucas are all presenting nationwide BBC radio shows this Christmas Day
Kane will be making his Radio 5 Live debut hosting a two-hour show from 9am, where he will be joined by guests.
Meanwhile, Philomena Cunk star Morgan will be taking over digital station 6 Music for a mammoth ten-hour stint from 4pm.
She is one of three Wise Women being handed the reins of the station, presenting three hours of their favourite music from 4pm, followed by an evening's worth of programmes from the 6 Music archives. Fresh Meat star Zawe Ashton has the slot on Christmas Even and singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett on Boxing Day.
Finally, Matt Lucas will be hosting a live show on Radio 2 from 11am to 2pm.
He said: ‘I’m really excited to be live on Radio 2 on Christmas Day with a big show. Please don’t rob my house.’
Other highlights of the Radio 2 festive schedule, released tonight, are an hour-long special of Jeremy Vine: Agony Uncle following a pilot earlier this year.
The spoof features impressionist Lewis MacLeod playing the broadcaster as he fields calls from the likes of the Queen via Zoe Ball, Sara Cox, Kanye West and more.
Co-starring Jess Robinson, Terry Mynott and Jon Holmes, the show airs at 9pm on Christmas Eve.
And Dame Edna creator Barry Humphries is returning to Radio 2 for Barry’s Wireless Christmas, a nostalgia-based show mixing his memories – such as being sacked from his Christmas job in a top Melbourne department store – with vintage musical numbers from the likes of Judy Garland, Vera Lynn, George Formby, Max Miller and Fred Astaire,
Humphries said says: "I’m looking forward to once again spinning my turntable time machine to transport Radio 2 listeners back to the first half of the twentieth century with a selection of my favourite festive vintage recordings. It was a time before video Games, microwaves, skinny lattes, digital watches and even Darth Vader.’
He previously hosted the similar series Barry's Forgotten Musical Masterpieces in 2016, and this show goes out from 9pm on Christmas Eve..
