Teenager admits killing comedian Eurydice Dixon

Jaymes Todd pleads guilty to magistrates

A 19-year-old man has pleaded guilty to the rape and murder of Melbourne comedian Eurydice Dixon.

Jaymes Todd admitted murder, rape, attempted rape and sexual assault when he appeared in front of Melbourne magistrates via video link today.

Dixon’s body was found in a park near her suburban home in the early hours of  June 13.

The 22-year-old had been performing at a city comedy club earlier that night. The court heard that Todd stalked Dixon from the centre of the city, where he first spotted her just after 11pm. The exact time of her death was not revealed.

Todd handed himself in to police later the same day.

Dixon's death sent shockwaves around the stand-up circuit and raised questions about the safety of comedians travelling alone late at night. More than 5,000 people attended a subsequent vigil at the park.

Last month, self-styled 'anti-feminist' Andrew Nolch, who had briefly performed on Melbourne's open mic comedy scene, was sentenced to 200 hours of community service after admitting that he defaced the memorial that the local community had made to Dixon on the site where she was found.
