...as BBC publishes a story outline

Reece Shearsmith has released the first image from the forthcoming live Halloween episode of Inside No 9.

The comic tweeted an image of himself and co-creator Steve Pemberton looking suitably creepy to promote the special instalment, saying: ‘I don't know about you, but I'm terrified already.’

Originally announced in June, the show will air on BBC Two at 10pm on October 28, with Stephanie Cole as the guest  star.

The creators always advise fans to watch the episodes cold, without knowing any of the plot details. So navigate away from this page if you don’t want to read the BBC’s description of the programme, the 25th story made by the pair.

The story is entitled Dead Line, and according to the broadcaster:  ‘When Arthur Flitwick (Steve Pemberton) finds an old mobile phone in his local graveyard, he makes the mistake of trying to contact the owner.

‘But some mysteries are best left unsolved, and as Halloween draws near Arthur is plunged into a nightmare of his own making. It seems that no good deed can go unpunished, in this world or the next. ‘
