Scandal-hit stand-up returns to the Comedy Cellar

Louis CK made a second surprise appearance on stage at New York’s Comedy Cellar on Sunday night.

And again he made no reference of the inappropriate sexual behaviour, including masturbating in front of several women, that cost him his reputation

In what appears to be a linked move, the club has also instigated a new policy so audience members unhappy when an unannounced act drops in can leave without having to pay their bill.

However the club asks that such punters leave ‘unobtrusively’ – perhaps to avoid vocal protests. Two women did apparently politely leave during his set on Sunday.

The new policy is printed on tickets and on signage inside the venue, saying: ‘Swim at your own risk. We never know who is going to pop in. If an unannounced appearance is not your cup of tea, you are free to leave (unobtrusively please) no questions asked, your check on the house.’

It is not known how the club deals with comedians unhappy at sharing their workplace with someone who has exposed himself to colleagues.

A recording of CK’s introduction to the stage on Sunday, obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, shows he received a warm reception from the crowd, and at the end of his 20-minute set he said: ‘You've been very kind, thank you very, very much.’

It is CK’s second appearance in what was once his regular haunt since the #MeToo-inspired scandal into his behaviour broke, and he performed at around 10.30pm.
