Friends tops list of Netflix and Amazon shows

It has been off-air for 14 years, but Friends has been named as the most-watched show on streaming services in the UK.

Netflix bought up the rights to all ten series at the start of the year, and although neither it nor rival Amazon publish viewing figures, TV regulator Ofcom has compiled data.

Twice as many episodes of Friends were streamed in the first three months of 2018 than its nearest rival, Amazon's The Grand Tour.

The figures are  based on a survey of 2,500 viewers and includes subscription streaming services, but not other on-demand platforms such as iPlayer.

The top ten also includes US comedies The Big Bang Theory, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Good Place.

  1. Friends, Netflix
  2. The Grand Tour, Amazon
  3. The Crown, Netflix
  4. Stranger Things, Netflix
  5. Peaky Blinders, Netflix
  6. Black Mirror, Netflix
  7. The Big Bang Theory, Netflix
  8. Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Netflix
  9. The Good Place, Netflix
  10. Vikings, Amazon
