Who's in the next series of Live At The BBC?

Stand-up line-up revealed

The line-up for the new series of the Live From The BBC stand-up show has been announced.

Six comics have recorded half-hour specials at the Corporation’s Radio Theatre, which will be released weekly on BBC Three’s iPlayer channel from June 27.

Each special will then be broadcast on BBC One several weeks later, although the exact dates have yet to be announced.

The previous two series of Live From The BBC – which are now available on Netflix – have featured the likes of Nish Kumar, James Acaster, Sara Pascoe, Dane Baptiste, Doc Brown and Josie Long.

The new batch are:

Fern Brady: June 27

In her first TV special, acerbic Scottish stand-up and writer Fern Brady reveals how she got through university with unexpected side jobs, a simple diet and a near death experience. Fern said: ‘As someone who has been chased out of gigs for my comedy I'm so excited the BBC are exposing that to a wider audience.’

Rhys Nicholson: July 4

Already an established star in his native Australia, Rhys is making his first UK TV special, tackling sexuality, romance and popularity. He said: ‘Without wanting to sound like a suck-up, it was a bit of a big honour being in Live From the BBC. I kept thinking there had been some huge mistake and they thought I was Rhys Darby or something. Maybe they still do. I'm just going with it. Also it was very nice saying such rude things in such a nice room.’

Suzi Ruffell: July 11

Portsmouth-born Ruffell – whose show revolves around struggling in and out of the middle classes –  said: It was a complete joy to record my show  in the wonderful theatre at Broadcasting House. The audience were brilliant and the show was a blast. It was a very special day for me, mum even got the train up from Pompey!’

Chris Washington:  July 18

This show was recorded six months after Washington was nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award best newcomer at last year’s Fringe. At the time of filming, he was still working in his day job as a postman – although now he has quit to become a full-time comedian.

Desiree Burch: July 25

New York’s Desiree Burch is now based in London, and this no-holds-barred performance – another hit from last year’s Edinburgh Fringe – explores everything from sex, relationships, race, body image and social change.

Mat Ewins: August 1

Nominated for best show at the 2017 Edinburgh Comedy Awards, Ewins presents an action-packed quest using computer graphics and animation in his television debut.
